WIW Monday & Tuesday

Monday: Basic cardigan, blouse and pants outfit.

I've lost some weight recently and all my trousers look saggy. I guess the weight loss is a good thing, but the saggy bottoms...not so much. I'll be looking for new pants this fall.

Tuesday: Another variation on the denim jacket+skirt/dress formula. I sewed the red dress and am happy it's warm enough to finally wear it.

WIW: Denim Jacket & Dressy Skirt

Pardon the horrible photo. I shouldn't have turned on the overhead light. It did some rather unfortunate things to my face. Also, the exposure is off, so you can't see the lace patterning of the blouse. Oh well, I'm feeling good in my Angie-inspired outfit and appropriately bundled up for the cool and rainy weather we have here today.

Flustered by Fit & Flare

Angie's blog post yesterday made me worry a little bit about this fit and flare skirt which I have in my wardrobe--which I really like. The first photo illustrates why these skirts are problematic for short-waisted curvy figures.

Did I rescue the skirt with the way I styled it in the second photo or does it still not look right? Please be honest :) Perhaps I should give it up to a good home.

WIW 8/31 - Everybody's Doing It

Here's my take on the ink, chartreuse and white ensemble. Angie always comes up with fun and modern color combinations, doesn't she?

White textured jacket: Ann Taylor Loft, Summer 2014
Chartreuse top: made by me
Ink blue/navy pants: Ann Taylor Loft
Shoes: Vince Camuto
Necklace: Le Target

WIW 11.27.13 - Paul Bunyan in the City

My husband laughed good-naturedly at my outfit today and said I looked like I was heading out to chop wood. I now have an axe to grind with him, lol.

Whatever. I love this plaid blouse.

WIW 11.25.13 - Houndstooth and Hot Pink

I like this outfit...and all the layers are keeping me nice and warm.

I'm irritated with my collar though...it won't stay put. If I could breathe with the top button done up, I'd button it, but it cuts off my airway, so I'm resigned to looking a bit like Disco Stu.

WIW 11.21.13 - Baby, It's Cold Outside

Just trying to stay warm...

I threw on the necklace because I wanted to mirror the lighter color of the boots higher up, but it looks like it's too short, so I'll probably remove it.

Sweater: H&M
Pants: Loft
Booties: Vince Camuto

WIW 11.19.13 - Anna's Skirt and a Whole Lotta Black

Anna offered to sell this skirt to me and I have been hemming and hawing because I couldn't figure out how to style it. She suggested I just wear it with my black turtleneck. She's so smart! I really like this! Thanks Anna :)

P.S. I was too tired to smile when I took this photo. Coffee has since remedied the problem, lol!

WIW 11.18.13 - weekend & back to work

The weather has turned recently and it's been pretty cold out, so I bought a bunch of sweaters. My husband's reaction to the pink cat one was predictable: "OH GAWD." hahaha :) I'm wearing it regardless if it's too twee or young or not serious enough for work because I need an emotional pick me up today. It's either the cat sweater or a bunch of drugs. (Seasonal Affective Disorder is striking once again.) This seems healthier.

White Shirt: Brooks Bros.
Cat Sweater: from Nordie's
Skirt: Halogen
Shoes: Crown Vintage (need to replace these with something similar. They're almost worn out)

Outfit #2 is what I wore to hang out with some friends on Saturday. Cozy and uncomplicated.

Sweater: H&M
Jeans: Gap always skinny
Boots: from DSW

WIW 11.13.13 - Inspired by Angie

I adore this outfit of Angie's:

Sadly, I don't have a lace blouse that works quite as well, but I did the best I could with this green Boden top. I had to roll up the sleeves, because the lace sleeves were too tight over the white shirt to look good and my white shirt wasn't long enough to peak out the bottom like Angie's.

I'm not as much of a minimalist as Angie, so was tempted to add a necklace. I can't tell if it works here or not. What do you think?
