WIW 11.7.13 - Polka Dots

My clothing is getting more and more somber. I used to wear lots of color, so am not sure why I'm wearing so many dark pieces lately. I tried to liven things up with polka dots, bling and nude hose instead of opaque tights. Does this work?

Jacket: Classiques Entier
Sweater: Loft
Skirt: Halogen Seamed Pencil
Boots: Clarks

YES! This makes me happy seeing this on you. Or maybe it's just the magpie in me seeing the bling....oooh sparkle.

Love how the sparkle brightens up your face! You look fabtastic in purple. I think your palette is overall a little subdued but it makes the minimal use of color really stand out! Fab!

love the color pop. It totally works. you have color and sparkle as well as texture and pattern in this outfit.

Lovely outfit!! I like how the nude hose and sparkly necklace break up the dark colors and brighten up your face.

This is not dark, Amy!  Nor somber.  I love the purple in this outfit.

    Sure does!  Nice.

You sparkle Amy!  I really like your style and will be shamelessly copying many of your looks.

You look really pretty, Amy! I love the way the necklace adds a bit of shine. The purple is great for you and does not feel somber to me.

It's perfect Amy - I love the purple, and like Suz said, it doesn't feel somber to me.

No somberness here :) ......dots instantly = happiness and the necklace.....
    Delicious....

Love the purple!  I am not seeing dark or somber. perhaps you are still adjusting to the darker days  :)

  • Aquamarine replied 10 years ago

I agree with Thistle, maybe it's the shorter days/less light? But you never look somber with that smile LOL

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

Fun outfit. Nice bling. The sparkle is repeated in your eyes.

Nice to see your dress form wear a bra.

  • Ornella replied 10 years ago

I have zero objections to you wearing whatever you have been wearing lately. It works. Your style is office friendly, while being girly and so, so playful. I see no darks, just lovely colours. And cute polkadots. And gorgeous necklace. And beautiful smile.

I don't think this looks somber at all - the way the purple contrasts beautifully with your hair is just fab.

  • Amy replied 10 years ago

Gosh darn it. I meant to cover up poor Headless Hannah. LOL!!

This is a very pretty and very polished outfit, I love that the polka dots are mirrored by the pearls on your necklace.

You look anything but somber, Amy!
Lively, interesting, and glamorous all come to mind, but not somber!
You look terrific in your polka dots and bling. You can really wear purple!

  • Jjsloane replied 10 years ago

The purple and polkadots are lively! I would probably wear sheer black or grey tights but I think you look fun with the dots and blingy necklace.

I love the purple and is that olive for the jacket? Olive or charcoal or brown. No matter, it looks great!  (And Angie, I'm glad I wasn't the only one laughing about the bra-wearing dress form!)

  • carter replied 10 years ago

    Yes. Love the polka dots!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

There is nothing somber about this outfit Amy - gorgeous colours, textures, sparkle….lovely outfit. I'm afraid I can't say the same about poor Hannah - lol!

  • Aida replied 10 years ago

Very nice Amy! I know exactly what you mean on feeling somber (it would make me feel so, too), although it's not really so; the sparkle is my favorite part! I'd guess that going from sweet weather to stormy weather overnight a week or two ago probably didn't help, either. I haven't seen your hair recently, it looks lovely!

I adore deep purple.  I'm feeling deeply saturated colors like this, and burgundy, ink and teal, too.

Adding deeper colors to your neutrals is beautiful, too!

(P.S.  I'm envying your dress form)

  • Jaime replied 10 years ago

The purple dots adds the playful to the serious. Not somber at all!

  • Sveta replied 10 years ago

It is not somber, it is sophisticated.
(and Angie, you cracked me up with your bra remark. )
