WIW 11.5.13 - Red & animal print

I'm laughing at myself for thinking that I was going to donate this jacket the other day. I've worn it twice since then. It's good not to be too hasty :)

Jacket: Gap
Top: White House Black Market
Pants: Lafayette 148
Boots: Munro

Amen -- the coral-based red is heavenly and seems to have this glowing quality. The black and white tones down the color a bit and makes this combo sing. Makes me sigh that I passed over a similar jacket in the store 3 months ago... I knew it could have been fab!

Gorgeous!  I love the pop of red with the graphic black and white, especially against the animal print. So terrific!

Red + animal print = match made in heaven!  This is so chic!!

I'm so glad you weren't hasty about donating that jacket- it's way to pretty on you not to keep! The combo of the orangey red and the animal print is delightful.

I have that jacket too and love how it adds color to your face. You should wear this color more often!

Beautiful, Amy! Very crisp and oh so chic. Love it!

My favorite look of yours so far! Does this top work with your Lanai?

  • AJ replied 10 years ago

You know I just took a look at your Lanai pic and the blazer is longer than this red one. Do you think that might be the reason you're having trouble with the Lanai?

How does this red blazer and top combo look with that grey pencil skirt?

    ClassIc colours, great look :)

Fab trousers!  Don't let that jacket go.

  • unfrumped replied 10 years ago

That is so keep! Does that not scare you a bit--about to toss something and then you find this dynamite combo. I do that, and I think it can mess with the wardrobe purging I actually need to do. Note to self: remember to use the "holding zone" !

Seriously, did it just pop back into use or have you analyzed what you like about it (color, great fit, structure come to mind) and now are thinking of ways to use it more, or that you might actually build around it more, or that at some point you would replace it with something similar--it's a great foil for the animal print, in that while it is tailored and  classic, it  is spicy, and also the shorter sleeves and length, so reads as very fresh and youthful.

  • Amy replied 10 years ago

Unfrumped, I think I'm too spoiled with wardrobe choices to be scared of one piece disappearing (although I'm still lamenting the loss of my bright green jacket last year). I'm glad I decided to keep it though. It's very grey outside and the bright color is a nice mood booster :)

  • Amy replied 10 years ago

AJ - the problem I'm having with the Lanai is really the color. I'm comfortable coordinating things with black as my neutral. I'm not so comfortable working with navy. I just need practice :)

  • AviaMariah replied 10 years ago

Is this the one you thought was too bright?  I'm glad you kept it!

  • pil replied 10 years ago

Must be it just needed to come out to play!

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

You crack me up with your hasty donations. I'm glad you rescued the jacket. You look great, Amy. Nice happy mix of colour and pattern.

Next time you want to donate it ....... throw it my way ;)  That jacket is seriously cut for you and the color is lovely!  You look sleek and chic Amy!

  • jurocha replied 10 years ago

Glad that red jacket dodged the bullet; paired with the animal print, it really brings life and interest to the black trousers. Nice outfit.

  • Mochi replied 10 years ago

I love the unexpected pop of the coral jacket with the black and white. You did another similar red/black and white column of color combination recently, didn't you? It looks fantastic on you.

  • lyn67 replied 10 years ago

Love this blazer Amy! Pls keep!:-)

  • TraceyLiz65 replied 10 years ago

I can't tell you how much I like this. Fresh, lively, stand-out but not weird. Everything fits so nicely.
