WIW 10.25.13 - Pink & Purple (and a hilarious shopping mistake)

Casual Friday!

Jacket: W118 (bought from Anna)
Umbrella Sweater: handknit by me
Pants: Loft Scuba Straight Ankle Pants. (I let them down an inch. Hope that looks ok!)
Shoes: Painful horrid things. I'm going to toss after today and replace with something better

Shopping Mistake:

After Angie posted an outfit idea for white jeans in winter, I decided to try it. I have some white jeans on order. I also bought the leopard print sweater pictured in the ensemble from the Gap in size 8 (M).

The jeans still aren't here, but the sweater arrived and it was immediately apparent that something was wrong.

I bought a size 8 children's sweater! Oops. Luckily, my daughter likes it :) hahaha.

Ooh, I love the floral moto and the umbrella sweater together.  The colors make me happy.  =)

And too funny about the sweater!  Is there actually an adult version too?  Gap has been screwing up my online orders a lot lately... I ordered some size 10 pants that must have been missized because they were smaller than the size 8 (and the replacement was the right size), and they sent me size 6 instead of 8 for the Ultra Skinnies.  Someone needs better order fulfillment training...

Well, I thought there was an adult size, Diana, but I'm not sure. I've been doing a lot of squirelly things lately so would be hesitant to blame it on the Gap; however, I have noticed the crazy sizing discrepancies with some of their items.

Lol! Your DD looks a treat in the sweater. I love the quirky sweater and floral jacket. The colours are lovely.

Love the bright colors of the jacket! Nice that your daughter can turn the shopping "mistake" into a win!

That is SO funny about the sweater!
DD looks adorable in it, though!
Will you be doing a mother-daughter matching outfit? :-)

  • Glory replied 10 years ago

Ooh laa laa DD is lovely and what a great mistake it turned out to be :)

Love the colour and pattern mixing!

Too funny about the sweater, but so strange! I wonder how that happened?

Love this outfit and the pattern mixing.. so funny and what a happy accident for DD.

  • kkards replied 10 years ago

love that jacket. the floral is great, and the cut of the jacket is fab!
DD looks killer in that sweater!

  • Amy replied 10 years ago

Parsley, we might end up with similar sweaters, but I will not be wearing Uggs, lol.

Great story!  Your DD is so cute!

The sweater you made is beautiful. It looks great with the top. Colors are really good on you.  Your daughter makes a wonderful model and is beautiful too. Vickie

    Thanks, ladies.

Are these pants too short on me? They're supposed to be ankle pants.

  • san replied 10 years ago

Too bad the shoes hurt you because they look nice and they don't look like killer shoes.  I like your bright moto it matches your perky personality.  You certainly have a talent for knitting.  I was thinking the pants looked a tad too short.  Can they come down anymore?  Or wearing with ankle boots would cure that.
    Your DD is beautiful.

Love the jacket with the pattern mixing!  And your daughter is so darn cute!

  • Jjsloane replied 10 years ago

Funny, I almost bought that sweater too (clicking through Angie's link), but realized it was in Girl's dept. Not available in adult (then you and your DD could be twins!)

  • Tanya replied 10 years ago

Too funny, but your DD look awesome in her new sweater.  I adore your umbrella sweater too, so pretty with the floral moto.

  • annagybe replied 10 years ago

Yay! Jacket twins! Bummer about the shoes, they look good.
I don't know if you buying a kids' sweater is worse than me buying that jacket twice.

  • Caro in Oz replied 10 years ago

The floral jacket is great on you. Funny - glad the sweater worked for your daughter :)

  • sarah replied 10 years ago

Hah Hah Hah!!!! DD is stealing the show in that sweater - isn't she adorable?!

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

Amy you look amazing! The jacket is wonderful and I love the line and length of the pants. Such a shame about the shoes because they are beautifully sleek. DD looks gorgeous in her new sweater!

For all the ladies that loved the leopard sweater, Bloomingdas has  a very similar one (albeit much more expensive as it is cashmere):

Love your outfit Amy and I soooooo wish I could knit, very cute little jumper...
Great score for your daughter :)

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

YES. I realized the child's size later and mentioned so in my post. DD looks cute as a button, and is lucky to have a stylish role model Mama. Love you in retro florals Amy.

  • Day Vies replied 10 years ago

Oh that's funny! DD looks cute in the sweater!
I wish I had enough print in my wardrobe to do what you've done here with your sweater and jacket. All of the colors complement/coordinate yet there is no matching. I am enjoying the cut of the jacket in addition to the vibrant colors.  Lovely!

You look terrific, and the sweater looks super cute on DD. Stylish mamma and daughter!

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

What  a story, and your daughter is a lucky girl. Not only does she have a fab new sweater, but she also has a stylish mama who is a really good sport!
