WIW 01/30 - Floral Jacket - low contrast experiment

This jacket just arrived from asos yesterday and I had to wear it. While I don't think the fit is a 10, it's good enough, the price was right and I anticipate having a lot of fun with it. I also bought the matching trousers, but they're designed for someone several inches shorter than I am, so they are going back. My floral suit will just have to remain the stuff of dreams.

I'm experimenting with low contrast colors today...not my usual thing.

I had to take this picture in a hurry, so didn't notice my necklace was skewed until it was too late. Bummer.

Oh Amy! The colors and print are gorgeous on you! I can see that mixing in very well with your wardrobe and it looks like just your style. Too bad about the trousers. :(

Great colours on that jacket! Could you crop and taper the trousers like Angie's black suit?

Beautiful on you, I really like it. Shame about the trousers though. :(

Ooh, that's a great idea, Ceit! Since they weren't particularly expensive, I think that would be worth the experiment.

Totally charming! Great colours and do keep your hair this length, it really suits both your face and your style.

LOVE the jacket. It will go with so many colors, and suits your style.

Awesome jacket! The colors are wonderful, I'd totally wear this too. I like Ceit's idea of trying to make the trousers work, especially if they weren't too expensive. And you're a sewing pro! You look great.

Beautiful! I love ceit's idea of cropping the trousers and having a suit!

Gorgeous, Amy!! I love it on you, far more than I'd have expected, actually, since I was just a "maybe" vote for floral jackets. This one is beautifully abstract. And also very cross seasonal. YAY!

I'm not a floral person but I really like that jacket on you. The colors are perfect to fit in with your wardrobe.

  • Angie replied 11 years ago

I think it's a 10! It needs another under layer to bring out the colours of the pattern.

    Fun floral jacket :)

  • Amy replied 11 years ago

    Thanks, everyone.

Angie, I agree...I'll have to experiment some more :)

I'm not a big floral fan but I really like this! The muted palette is wonderful, and you look great in these low-contrast colors.

Too bad about the trousers. The jacket is gorgeous, it will mix with so much.

I love the jacket -- I am not sure I love it in a low contrast setting (though low contrast is a very interesting concept. I would love to see this with mustard, deep red or teal. (just my two cents, but I am a color hound so you can feel free to ignore me.)

  • Amy replied 11 years ago

    Me too, Day Vies :)

I really like this floral jacket on you, Amy. Angie's suggestion of another layer to make things pop is brilliant.

Like Suz, I'm surprised that I like the floral since I'm a little unsure of the trend for myself. Thanks for being a style trailblazer!

Lovely! You have given me ideas for a floral jacket that I'd forgotten I had. I hope the pants can be altered to work too.

  • carolbee replied 11 years ago

Amy that is one fabulous jacket. I agree with the others about a different coloured top.

  • Aida replied 11 years ago

Ooh now that is an interesting moody floral! I can't wait to see what you come up with :)

Beautiful jacket on you Amy - I love Day Vies mustard suggestion.
