Yellow and Green (Day 2 of my Adjacent Colors Experiment)

I'm once again following in Aida's footsteps. I didn't think my wardrobe was all that colorful, but after excavating it to its very depths, I'm happy to report there's a lot more color for me to play with. Yay!

Try to ignore my crazy hairdo.

I laughingly told my husband that my hair reminded me of a lion's mane. He said it's been looking like that for a week or so. When I glared at him, he quickly spluttered out that he likes it like this.

I'm thankfully going to get the 'do tamed on Friday.

LOVE! And that touch of blue in the scarf on the handbag? Brilliant. There's something both wintry ('cause it's cozy looking with the different fabrics) and spring like ('cause of the colours) in this outfit.

This color combination looks so fresh on you.Fabulous.
The opposite occurred to me some time ago, I thought I had a colorful wardrobe but when I really looked into it almost everything was a neutral.

What a great combination - fresh is just the word plus lovely. Been there with that glare.

Very well done! That jacket looks warm and wonderful. Great job with the adjacent colors! And your hair is not mane-y at all. Silly hubbies.

Great look! Those colors are terrific, and I love the boots and bag with the outfit. I think your hear looks great, too. Bet it will look especially super on Friday, as you head to the salon. Mine is always on its best behavior the day of my haircut!

I love the colors too, but I think the proportions are off a bit. The old divided in half syndrom instead of divided in thirds, you know Imogen has a video on that! Maybe a longer top peaking out could make the top half 2/3 of the look? I don't want to discourage you! I think it is great color combination and both pieces fit you well!

I like these 2 colors together...they are really pleasing to the eye because to me they have the same intensity and don't compete with eachother
    Nice job:)

You look fab! I love the color combo.
LOL about your husband's comment or should I say his comeback:)) Your hair looks nothing like a lion's mane.

  • Amy replied 12 years ago

    Thanks, everyone.

Interesting, Jayne. I don't really see the proportions you do. I see thirds, since the three main colors I'm wearing are fairly close in intensity. The green top, yellow middle and brown bottom.

I'd *love* to hear what the rest of you think about that. Thank you.

Well hello there Miss Sunshine! You look so fresh and sping-y! Did these color lift your mood today?

If I remember correctly, this skirt is fairly new, so I'm guessing you haven't worn it with this jacket before? I really like this color combo on you! Oh, I can see this with a cream PB blouse as spring approaches!

  • Amy replied 12 years ago

Thanks, AJ! Yes, I did feel remarkably chipper yesterday. This is the first time I wore the skirt. I lucked out and found that Halogen pencil skirt for $25 in my size.

Amy, I love that color combo on you and in general. It just looks so fresh and spring-y. You look fab! Your hair looks very nice in the picture, not like a lion's mane at all.

  • yankeebelle replied 12 years ago

I like this! Very spring while still appropriate for winter. And you can wear it again without the turtleneck, tights and boots when it is spring! I love green and yellow together.

(And I love that your "HOME" letters behind you are echoing your color choice!)

  • rae replied 12 years ago

Oh, I LOVE this! Of course I love the colors, but the proportions and fit are just impeccable as well! I need to get me a green skirt to go with my yellow tops. :D

  • replied 12 years ago

I love the color combination and the cognac boots are the perfect choice.
    Everything fits so perfectly.

  • Amy replied 12 years ago

Thanks, ladies. Your kind words are fortifying me for a hard day at work. Just what the doctor ordered.

  • mamaKate replied 12 years ago

Looking fab and cheery. I am with jayne on the proportions. An alternate suggestion would be brown tights that continue the color/tone of the boots.

    KILLER

Amy, you have a distinctive style that is both professional and playful. That's not easy to get right, and yet you have succeeded :)

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

OH! I LOVE this pretty color pairing on you, so so fresh and crisp looking and yet.. still perfectly wintery (must be the turtleneck!). Kind of like, "Hey, I know it's winter, but it won't be for looooong". I am going to be crazy and suggest a blue bag, because I like how the blue scarf looks _that_ much with this :)

  • rachylou replied 12 years ago

I love this lemon lime! And agree the blue scarf is a great touch! I find the white turtleneck a really bold choice. I like that.

Re. the proportions... It did cross my mind that the skirt hem could be higher, but I vetoed that right away. Not professional.

  • Mellllls replied 12 years ago

    nice and springlike!

  • Meredith1953 replied 12 years ago

How utterly cute you look! I love the colors and am not brave enough to fly off the monocrhomatic branch (baby bird that I am...) You look charming! I also had to go the lion tamer and get me locks tamed! By the time I get done with them it's REALLY easy to style.
