WIW 10.17.13 - My Son Likes It.

I nearly fainted this morning when my 12 year old told me that I look nice. He's a very nice boy, but he hardly ever notices such things. He made my day :)

Chambray shirt: Banana Republic
Sweater: Free People
Skirt: Banana Repulic (It's navy, not gray like it looks in the picture)
Boots: nicole from DSW

Haha! I feel the same way when my 12 year old comments positively. He obviously has great taste since you look fab! Those red boots really up the style quotient--they look great with the cool darks.

ETA: Wha? You didn't knit the sweater? Are you slacking? Joking :)

  • Amy replied 10 years ago

Yeah, I'm a total slug. No hand-knit or home sewn items here. Bad me. ;)

  • kellygirl replied 10 years ago

I'm just kidding! At least you wear the things you make. I just store them in a closet.

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

No wonder he likes this outfit. You look happy and ready for fun!

I am blessed to have a 13 yr old who notices everything and is very free with the compliments. Now the other 3 kids,,, not so much!
For some reason it means so much more when a self centered child steps up!

I think your son has great taste!  I really like the combination of the sweater over the chambray shirt.  I'm going to keep this in mind because I think I have similar pieces that might work together.

I like this too!  And you make me consider trying again to find a way to wear skirts in the fall/winter.  I love them, but I get so cold.....

  • replied 10 years ago

    You do look great!

  • viva replied 10 years ago

Love this sweater with the chambray. I think you do look fun - what a smart kid you have.

  • Amy replied 10 years ago

amiable...it's all in the pantyhose/tights/leggings and tall boots. Long coats help too.

  • replied 10 years ago

The brown boots are unexpected.  I like how they pull my attention to the brownish (wine?) shade in the sweater. Your son has good taste.

  • Neel replied 10 years ago

Awww!  Don't you love it when they decide to say something nice about your outfit?!  It does make your day :)

And I agree with everyone that he has great taste!  Chic and simple!

I love your outfit, too! Your son has good taste.

  • Astrid replied 10 years ago

That's sweet! I like your outfit too.

  • rachylou replied 10 years ago

    Very cute. Relaxed!

My theories is boys (men) like relaxed :)

  • Vickie KY replied 10 years ago

I agree with your son. It is nice to get compliments from adults but getting a complement from younger people is really great, as I take it to mean that you are still with it and know what is going on in the world. Vickie

You look terrific. No wonder he noticed  :)  And yeah, it makes my day too when DH notices.

You look great! I love the skirt and boot pairings, sounds like I need to get on the tights/hose train to be able to wear it comfortably...

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

I bet DS's compliment made your day. How fab is that? And well deserved praise.

  • Karie replied 10 years ago

Fantastic dressy/casual outfit, just the type that I like to wear!

You look lovely! I love the combo. I have a similar FFBO and it always makes me feel tall and chic, which is exactly how you look here!

Love the layering in this outfit Amy - so flattering.

  • jurocha replied 10 years ago

Your 12-year-old is right. You look very, very nice! Love the outfit.

  • Lantana replied 10 years ago

It's a cute way to style a chambray shirt.

  • replied 10 years ago

A cute outfit and cute of your son to say so.

  • Amy replied 10 years ago

Thanks everyone. My son is a sweet kid :)

  • Mochi replied 10 years ago

I can see why. I would try and duplicate this look in a heartbeat. Still, your boy sounds very special :)

  • Makrame replied 10 years ago

Very nice!  I like how the sweater seems to pull all the colors (wine, blue, navy) together, and the layering is fab!  Glad that your son noticed how great you look!

Wonderful outfit, so fun, creative and best example of casual polish. I'm with your son on the verdict for this one :-)
