Jeans - Keep or Return

I've been looking and looking and looking for jeans. I bought 3 pair today. Should I keep or return them?

TIA!

Pictures 1-2 : Wit and Wisdom

Pictures 4-5: Kut from the Kloth (my only reservations about these is the rise in the back. I wish they were about an inch longer. I don't plan on ever wearing them with a shirt that would expose that area, though. Is this a problem?

And, just for fun, the last picture shows why I shouldn't wear empire bodice tops. Not pretty.

Okay...I like them both. Which ones feel better?

My one concern with the W&W is that they might be too short. What do you think? Is there any room to let them down if required? And what's the fabrication?

As for the Kuts...heavens...if you could see how low most jeans come on me, you would not be worried about these!

Actually, I find it very instructive to see this (and thank you for being my teacher). Not even the very highest of high rise jeans would come up to where the W&W do on you. Even high rises are an inch below my belly button. Weirder yet, I always thought that was because I must have a proportionately long rise. Makes sense, right? Yet according to Imogen's proportions exercise, I do not!! In fact it is SHORT!?!!

Suz, that makes absolutely no sense???

Amy, can you believe that the W&W jeans were labeled low rise. I prefer the fit of those to the KUTs. The length is just fine - no scrunch, but totally works. That's an ankle length that I can live with for sure. Do you like them?

  • sarah replied 12 years ago

I can see what you mean about the KUTs in the back, which makes me think you will be happier with the W&W's. Did you try the sitting down test to see how they work in the back?

Both look great, BTW. I think you've found your jeans ; )

  • Suz replied 12 years ago

Angie, I know. It really does make no sense. But we will leave that story to another day so as not to derail Amy's thread!

And Amy, I will say, my Gap Always Skinnies are now about the length of your W&Ws (they shrunk a bit after hemming because I have to put them in the dryer or they are Always Baggies) and the length works fine for me. So these might work very well for you.

I think they both look great, although my eye prefers the KUT pair. I'm not sure why. But if you don't think you can live with the rise in the back, perhaps return them. IMO it would be fine because the rest of them look so good.

P.S. I think you look absolutely fine in that shirt. You certainly don't look pregnant as those style shirts tend to make me look!

I really like the W&W on you, they look really good.

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

I like the first pair on you best. Ohman now I want to go try those!

  • Amy replied 12 years ago

I think I prefer the Wit and Wisdoms. Hopefully, they won't shrink much.

  • Angie replied 12 years ago

    No tumble drying!

  • modgrl replied 12 years ago

AMY ARE WE LOOKING AT THE SAME PICTURES!? The Kuts flatten your tush! No no no!! That is not ok. You look great in the W+W. These are your jeans. Cut the tags.

  • Debbie replied 12 years ago

Both pairs look great on you. I need to try those Wit and Wisdoms ASAP.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 12 years ago

Love the W&W's on you. Did you have to size down? They look like they fit you perfectly.

  • replied 12 years ago

I love the first pair on you! You look amazing in that empire waist top, are you crazy? The cut and color are gorgeous on you. If you don't like the side view just throw on a blazer. Do not give away that purple top. That's an order!

  • Marley replied 12 years ago

First of all Amy - you are adorable. LOVE your hairstyle and you have beautiful sparkly eyes.
As far as the jeans go - I think its no contest - W&W for sure. The fit in the legs is so much better for you than the others. Great find!

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 12 years ago

Love the Wit & Wisdom on you. I think they're a more flattering fit, and I love the color. I like the ankle length. They'll look great with ballet flats, pumps, booties, sandals, boots. . . . . I don't get why not wear an empire top. That one looks cute on you!

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 12 years ago

    P.S. Your haircut is adorable!

  • Amy replied 12 years ago

    Thanks everyone!

I had to size down a lot for these. I normally wear an 8 in pants. These are 4's.

  • Sveta replied 12 years ago

I also prefer W&W on you:looks like Kut also gives you a muffin top.
If Angie has approved PPL for W&W I would keep those!

  • AJ replied 12 years ago

Yes, keep the first pair. I agree with Rita, the other pair doesn't flatter your tush like the first...maybe because the lower rise in the back doesn't accentuate the curve like the first pair?

  • Amy replied 12 years ago

Thanks for the advice. You gals are right on. I'm going to return the Kut from the Kloth jeans. I wore them for an hour or so, and was constantly tugging at the back. They're just not comfortable on me.

  • Astrid replied 12 years ago

I'm glad you're keeping the first pair, they look fantastic on you! I hate it when denims have a lower rise in the back, I can't wear them without being constantly uncomfortable too.

  • cobaltblue replied 12 years ago

I'm late to the patry here, but I think you are making the right choice. The Kut jeans just do not fit you as well as the W and W pair. That pair looks great, as does the purple top!

  • Meredith1953 replied 12 years ago

I like both but if you are concerned about the low rise in th Kloth jeans then maybe just always wearing a long layering cami with them???

  • Kyle replied 12 years ago

My initial gut reaction, without reading other comments, was that the W&W fit you like a glove. To me, there is no contest. Those are the clear winner. Good job!

  • Queen Mum replied 12 years ago

Amy- These both look great on you. Can I offer my thoughts... I have 2 pair of skinnies, one that fits like your W&W, and one that fit like your Kut's (in fact, they are Kut's.. LOL)
    Here's what I have found...
When I want to tuck into tall boots and have a really smooth leg, I go for the ones like your W&W's... they fit skinnier on my leg and give a smoother look.
When I want to wear skinnies without boots or my short boots, I go for my Kut's as they have a looser fit around the calf and thus it seems more balanced when I'm not adding the bulk of boots.
Here some pics to show what I mean...

1/2- these are my legging type skininies
3/4- these are my Kut's with boots...see the bagging around the knee?
5/6- Kuts with short boots and oxfords...this feels more proportioned to me than my legging skinnies would

This concludes the unsolicited QM fashion show ;-)

So, long story short... you may want to consider keeping both.
