01/13/12 WIW to the Grocery Store and My Kids' School Assembly

Today was one of my days off work and I had to run some errands and go see my kids perform songs/choral poetry in their Martin Luther King, Jr. school assembly. It was also remarkably cold out, so I had to bundle up.

All these factors figured into my eclectic assembly of parts:

Chapeau - $10 bargain at Target
Necklace - Another Target find? Or was it Forever 21?
Sweater - Thrifted Ann Taylor knit
Turtleneck - courtesy of the Rack
Jeans - Sewn by me before I knew about PPL
Loafers - nothing stylish about these, but they're comfy and great for walking and standing in overcrowded school cafeterias.

Later on, I wore this outfit with purple rubber gloves to wash the dishes. They were really stylish! I need a matching feather duster.

You made your own jeans? Wow! I love this whole outfit--especially the cute, embellished chapeau! Sweet!

You wear hats with such panache! I too am amazed at your tailoring skillz, and your posts are always so funny. You can't tease us with the vision of the matchy-matchy rubber gloves and then fail to provide a pic :).

I adore you in hat, Amy - you have the face for them.
Yay for a stylish grocery shopping and dish washing!

I too love the hat. And I want purple rubber gloves to replace my green and neon yellow ones!

@Jonesy - Your wish is my command. I'll take a picture with the gloves soon. haha!

@Glam on the Inside--I've also seen polka dotted rubber gloves. Very chic. :)

This looks great. Aside from the cool hat :) , I really like the sweater and I am in awe of the jeans you made. Not sure why you feel these are not PPL - they look good to me.

You crack me up. I love the hat and ensemble on you. Perfect for the occasion. I need to get some stylish work gloves. Thank goodness you had on your pearls too. Do you have a frilly apron? You must post photos!

    Hat + necklace: ADORABLE!!!

  • Amy replied 7 years ago

Thanks, everyone! You are the best cheerleaders.

I'm a little embarrassed about the jeans, really. They've bagged out around the knees and are too short with most of my other shoes. Ultimately, I don't feel like they're a current silhouette, but they're comfortable!

You are adorable in your hat! I love it. And I'm also super impressed that you made the jeans - it seems like jeans are one of the hardest things to sew.
